DocksTheFuture workshop with experts took place in Porto, on the 29th and 30th of October. The workshop was hosted by APDL (Administração dos Portos do Douro, Leixões e Viana do Castelo) at the Port of Leixões.

The workshop was organised by the DocksTheFuture project, aiming at getting the vision, sharing knowledge and ideas about the Port of The Future of 2030 and defining the challenges related to simplification and digitalisation of processes, emission reduction, energy transition, port-city interface, sustainability, relation with neighbouring countries and much more.

The event was a great success and aimed at getting the vision, sharing knowledge and ideas about the Port of The Future: the DocksTheFuture project. The participants were from different sectors of the maritime and port industry. There were experts from a wide range of organisations and institutions like Maritime & Mediterranean Economy Department at SRM, Hellenic Institute of Transport , the Baltic Ports Organisation, Fraunhofer IFF’s Digital Innovation Hub, ALICE, PIXEL Ports Project, Delft University of Technology, University of Genova, Port of Barcelona, Kühne Logistics University (KLU), Escola Europea – Intermodal Transport, PortExpertise, PIXEL, Irish Maritime Development Office, KEDGE Business School, etc.

AlexioPicco, the coordinator of DocksTheFuture, welcomed the experts to the event at the Port of Leixões. The interesting discussions went on in five breakout sessions on the following topics:

  1. Digitalisation and digital transformation
  2. Sustainability
  3. Port-city relation
  4. Infrastructure, means of transport, and accessibility, and
  5. Competition, cooperation, and bridging R&D and implementation

SEAbility and its Project manager Mrs Eleni Krikigianni, represented COREALIS project and participated in two out of the five breakout sessions (Port-city relation & Digitalisation and digital transformation) by providing insights and current trends to the proactive discussions.
