The seminar on the Carbon Footprint, in the Upper Tyrrhenian Port System (Seminario sulla Carbon footprint nel sistema portuale dell’Alto Tirreno) was held in Livorno at Camera di Commercio Maremma e Tirreno on 12th of September 2019.

The seminar (agenda is available here) was conducted in the context of GNL FACILE INTERREG (IT-FR Maritime cross-border program) project, which aims to achieve a progressive reduction in the use of polluting fuels and dependence on oil, which is one of the main priorities of European transport policy and a strategic objective for competitiveness and efficiency of the logistics chain.

In the context of digitalization and sensorization, the COREALIS’ RTPORT module for the real-time cargo management (represented by CNIT colleagues), has been presented, focusing on how the IoT, combined with the next generation mobile networks (5G), represents an enabling factor for the inefficiency reduction within the intra-terminal operations, positively impacting on the sustainability of the Port of Livorno (e.g: fuel consumption reduction, CO2 emissions reduction, etc.) (Presentation is available here).

More about the event and the project can be found here.
