The first International Conference on Maritime Transport<\/strong> was organised by Sapienza University of Rome and the Wessex Institute, UK, in the city of Rome, between 10 – 12 September 2019. The conference was opened by Giorgio Passerini who welcomed the delegates to the conference.<\/p>\n Its main aim was to discuss new developments and advanced technologies in a wide variety of topics, such as navigation and ship operations, ports and their operation, port infrastructure, safety and security, emergency response, pollution and the protection of the marine environment, marine geodesy and cartography, marine applications of geomatics and GIS, satellite navigation, routes planning and monitoring, and much more.<\/p>\n The Conference was focused on multidisciplinary research and development, as well as operational experiences, which require new approaches. COREALIS was one of the invited presentations on the advanced topics of research and applications. It was presented (material available here<\/a>) by Mr. Salvador Furi\u00f3 Prunonosa, Director of Innovation and Cluster Development at Valenciaport Foundation, who highlighted\u00a0\u00a0the results of the project on the design of JIT railway shuttle services for port-hinterland connections during the special session entitled as: \u2018Ports of the Future: Sustainable intelligent ports for smart and autonomous ships and logistics\u2019 .<\/p>\n A paper has been also produced in the context of this conference available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/www.corealis.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/EEQmUTjWwAIsHbt-1024x744.jpg\")
